Experimental investigations of the photorefractive properties of rhodium-doped BaTiO3 at 1.06 mu m

Photorefractive two-beam coupling and internal-loop self-pumped phase conjugation have been studied at 1064 nm in Rh:BaTiO3 using radiation from a cw Nd:YAG laser. Beam-coupling gain of 575 and phase conjugate reflectivity as high as 55% are demonstrated. To our knowledge these values are the highest reported at 1064 nm in an intentionally doped, infrared sensitive BaTiO3. Data also suggests that it is possible to stabilize the phase conjugate reflectivity by vibrating the crystal.
