Reaction of various protected forms of the amino acid homoallylglycine with aryl- and alkyl-substituted alkenes in the presence of 5 mol% Cl-2(PCy3)(2)Ru=CHPh gives cross metathesis products in acceptable synthetic yield (43-66%).
