Lattice collapse around gallium in PuGa alloys as revealed by X-ray absorption spectroscopy

摘要
We report a structural study on several PuGa alloys in the delta phase (f.c.c. structure) by the use of two complementary techniques: X-ray absorption spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The results obtained show that gallium atoms are in substitution in the plutonium f.c.c. lattice. Moreover, a local collapse of the lattice around gallium atoms is revealed.
