摘要
During sintering of ultrafine-grained WC-Co hardmetals significant WC grain growth takes place already on heating to the isothermal hold. This growth occurs both isotropically as well as in an anisotropic growth mode, where comparatively large trigonal WC plates are formed. Growth inhibitors, such as VC or Cr3C2 are added to suppress this early WC growth, but only VC proved to be successful in exploiting the full potential of today's finest-grained WC powders.
