Erosion of carbon fiber reinforced glass matrix composites

摘要
The effects of interfacial bond strength, thermally-induced microcracks and fiber direction on the erosion performance of borosilicate glass laminate composites reinforced with around 33 vol% carbon fibers were investigated. For comparison, the erosion resistance of monolithic borosilicate glass was also determined. The incorporation of the fibers was observed to accelerate the erosion due probably to low hardness, weak interfacial bond, and defects in the specimen prior to erosion test.
