BaMgF4 and Ba2Mg3F10: New examples for structural relationships between hydrides and fluorides

摘要
BaMgF4 and Ba2Mg3F10 were synthesized by sintering stoichiometric mixtures of the binary fluorides and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. BaMgF4 crystallized with the orthorhombic BaZnF4 structure type in space group Cmc2(1) (no. 36), a = 4.126(1) Angstrom, b = 14.518(4) Angstrom, c = 5.821(2) Angstrom, V = 348.7(2) Angstrom(3), Z = 4. Ba2Mg3F10 crystallizes with the monoclinic Ba2Ni3F10 structure type in space group C2/m (no. 12), a = 18.495(2) Angstrom, b = 5.9497(9) Angstrom, c = 7.8187(9) Angstrom, beta = 112.04(1)degrees, V = 797.5(2) Angstrom 3, Z = 4. The structural relationships to their hydride analogues BaMgH4 and Ba2Mg3H10 are discussed.
