Impact of tube-to-particle-diameter ratio on pressure drop in packed beds

摘要
The influence of Reynolds number and tube-to-particle-diameter ratio, and the wall friction and flow maldistribution on the pressure drop in packed tubes was investigated. The impact was analyzed by the extended Brinkman equation to cylindrical beds of particles of nearly spherical shape and moderate-size dispersity. The calculated pressure drop was compared with the value, obtained by the Ergun equation for the average porosity and superficial velocity.
