Analysis of pumping in multilayered and poroelastic half space

This paper presents steady state solutions for multilayered and poroelastic half space subjected to pumping. Hankel transform together with a combination of forward and backward transfer matrix techniques are utilized in the analytical formulation of solutions. Three types of pumping and three cases of drainage boundary conditions are investigated. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the influence of pumping method, drainage boundary condition, Poisson's ratio, layer thickness and layering inhomogeneity on the long-term subsidence and pore water pressure. The numerical evaluation of the solutions in the multilayered soil can be easily achieved with high efficiency and accuracy. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
