Flux synthesis of alkaline earth palladates

摘要
Single crystals of the ternary palladates SrPd3O4 and CaPd3O4 have been grown out of a potassium hydroxide flux. Small cubic crystals can be readily isolated from the soluble flux matrix and characterized by SEM and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both SrPd3O4 and CaPd3O4 crystallize with the NaPt3O4 structure and feature square planar coordination of palladium atoms. SrPd3O4 and CaPd3O4 crystallize in space group Pm (3) over bar n (no. 223) with a = 5.8120(7)Angstrom, V = 196.33(4)Angstrom, Z = 2, Ri = 0.042, wR2 = 0.091 and a = 5.7356(3)Angstrom, V = 188.68(2)Angstrom(3), Z = 2, R1 = 0.034, wR2 = 0.076, respectively.
