XPS analysis for lithium surface after electrodeposition and anodic dissolution

摘要
The surface of Lithium electrode after electrodeposition and anodic dissolution was analyzed with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). LIF, LiOH, and Li2O were detected in lithium electrodeposited on chromium substrate in 1 M LiPF6/EC+DME. It was found that Li2CO3 was produced on lithium when it was exposed to air during sample transfer from electrolysis cell to the XPS apparatus. So using transfer vessel is effective for analysis of lithium without air contamination. The analysis of the surface after electrical dissolution indicated that LIF formed on lithium did not dissolve in electrolysis, and formed passivating film and isolated inactive lithium.
