摘要
Contrasting the hydration shell of DNA by the sensitivity of thermal neutron scattering to H2O/D2O-exchange, it is found that both low frequency spectra may be understood in terms of the pseudospin-phonon coupling model extended to the phonon density of states. The suggestion that this pseudospin is related - apart from reorientation of the hydration shell - to jumps between B- and C-conformation is corroborated by the profile analysis of the base pair stacking peak.
