Ciliates from the cecum of capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) in Bolivia 1.: The families Hydrochoerellidae n. fam., Protohallidae, and Pycnotrichidae

Cecal ciliates in five capybaras in Bolivia were surveyed and their morphology and infraciliature was studied using silver impregnation techniques. Eight new species, Cunhamunizia batissei n. g., n. sp., Paracunhamunizia calocoma n. g., n. sp., Uropogon urai n. g., n. sp., Ogimotoa trichoradiata n. g., n. sp., Ogimotopsis campanulata n. g., n. sp., Ogimotopsis pumila n. g., n. sp., Anacharon gracilis n. g., n,sp., and Anacharon lepturus n. g., n. sp., and three known species, Hydrochoerella intestinalis Cunha & Muniz, 1925, Enterophrya elongata Hasselmann, 1918, Eriocharon acuminatus (Cunha, 1915) n. comb., were described. For these eleven species, creation of a new family Hydrochoerellidae in the order Vestibuliferida was proposed on the basis of characters in general and infraciliary morphology. Protohallia uncinata (Cunha & Muniz, 1925) and a new Protohallia species, P. nana n. sp., in the family Protohallidae, were described. Muniziella cunhai Fonseca, 1939, in the family Pycnotrichidae was poorly impregnated, therefore, only body sizes were measured.
