摘要：

Approximately 10% to 20% of all kidney stones may cause the patient enough difficulties to warrant surgical removal. The past two decades have shown unparalleled progress in the surgical treatment of nephrolithiasis. Improved radiologic imaging equipment, endourological devices and shock wave lithotripsy have revolutionized patient care, allowing efficient stone removal with a significant reduction in postoperative pain and convalescence compared to the open alternatives. In this monograph, we will provide a review of the surgical treatment of renal and ureteral stones along with certain "philosophies" for the management of symptomatic calculi.
