North aegean marine algae .4. Womersleyella setacea (Hollenberg) R. E. Norris (Rhodophyta, Ceramiales)

摘要：

Womersleyella (Polysiphonia) setacea is reported from the Sithonia Peninsula, Makedonian Province, where it was found in April of 1992 growing abundantly in the sublittoral and covering all saxicolous vegetation. The alga formed a dense carpet, 1-2 cm thick, was sterile and exhibited the typical features of the species. This record is the earliest in the Aegean Sea, with a previous undated find from the island of Miles reported in 1995. It is suggested that the species represents a recent introduction to the Aegean, with the earliest Mediterranean record being from Var on the French coast in 1987 and the Bermudas remaining the nearest exta-Mediterranean locality.
