Understanding the edge physics of divertor experiments by comparison of 2D edge code calculations and experimental measurements

摘要
A review on the assessment of the models contained in 2D plasma edge codes by comparing their results with experimental measurements of the SOL and divertor plasma is presented. Improvements in the models and experimental measurements in recent years have allowed a quantitative assessment of the predictions of the codes in a wide variety of regimes. In particular the accuracy of these codes to evaluate the effects of divertor geometry, reproduce experimental observations of divertor detachment, ELMs, Marfes and radiative H-mode discharges is described in detail. Areas where further experimental measurements and model improvements need to be carried out are highlighted.
