摘要
The characterization of the interaction of an imidazolium based ionic liquid (IL) and the surface of the die-cast AZ91D Magnesium alloy was studied. The ionic liquid used was composed of 1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium as cation and bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide as anion. Variation of the surface average roughness by a profilograph was monitored and investigated the morphology of the sample by electron microscopy. The surface chemical composition was determined by electron dispersive X-ray (EDX) microanalysis and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). XPS determined the chemical status of the elements detected and therefore monitored the evolution of the chemical species constituting the surface layer of the tested samples. The combination of the XPS and EDX actively contributed to the increase of the surface roughness and the weight loss observed.
