摘要
Foot orthotic devices offer an effective clinical tool in the management of common athletic injuries. Despite their popularity, the exact mechanisms of how they reduce clinical symptoms are not completely understood and are the focus of ongoing laboratory and clinical research. Improving structural alignment, increasing shock absorption and cushioning, and improving sensory feedback are plausible treatment goals for athletic trainers and therapists who implement orthotic therapy for their patients. When used prudently, foot orthotic devices provide a powerful clinical tool for athletic trainers and therapists in treating lower kinetic chain pathology.
