Tm3+:GdVO4 -: a new efficient medium for diode-pumped 2-μm lasers

摘要
An experimental investigation was made of the operational characteristics of a 2-mu m (lambda = 1923 nm) microlaser with a new efficient active medium in the form of a crystal of gadolinium vanadate Tm: GdVO4, Pumping with radiation from a Ti:sapphire laser generated output radiation of 180 mW power, which corresponded to an absolute efficiency of 36% and a differential efficiency of 55%, The differential efficiency of the Tm: GdVO4 laser pumped with a laser diode was 10%.
