摘要：

We summarize here some ongoing work by our group on the formation and evolution of barred galaxies. We first discuss the evolution of bars in isolated disc galaxies. Then we address the problem of bar destruction during interactions and mergers. Finally we describe work on generation and regeneration of bars in interactions.
