摘要
The unified power flow controller (UPFC) is the cornerstone of the Electric Power Research Institute's flexible AC transmission system program. It was proposed for the real-time control and dynamic compensation of AC transmission systems and offers multiple compensation functions. UPFC makes the control of the voltage, line impedance and phase angle of AC transmission systems possible. This functional flexibility offers a great potential in solving many of the problems facing the utility industry. For the American Electric Power Inez substation, the benefits of having a UPFC includes increased power transfer capability by about 125 MW and regulated area voltage within one percent.
