A robust near-wall elliptic-relaxation eddy-viscosity turbulence model for CFD

An eddy-viscosity model based on Durbin's elliptic relaxation concept is proposed, which solves a transport equation for the velocity scales ratio zeta = (v(2)) over bar /k instead of (v(2)) over bar, thus making the model more robust and less sensitive to grid nonuniformities. Computations of flows and heat transfer in a plane channel, behind a step and in a round impinging jet show all satisfactory results. (C) 2004 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
