摘要
The problem of how to reduce the number of control points while maintaining precise interpolation is addressed. The idea is to give the knots to some flexibility so that each row can be interpolated with as few new knots added as possible. Selecting the knot vector appropriately makes possible up to 97 percent data reduction compared to traditional skinning. A flexibility factor that controlled how much the interpolation could deviate from an `ideal' interpolant obtained using knots computed by parameter averaging is introduced.
