摘要
Two healthy men, ages 30 and 42, underwent whole-body PET a few hours after front crawl swimming. On PET images, deltoid and latissimus dorsi muscles showed elevated uptake of F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG). Increased distribution of FDG in skeletal muscles and decreased distribution in visceral organs resulted in incomplete examinations in terms of cancer detection. The effect of exercise on skeletal muscle glucose uptake is not fully understood. PET permits noninvasive measurement of regional glucose uptake in vivo in humans. In an oncology PET study, resting seems to be a prerequisite to avoiding skeletal muscle FDG uptake.
