摘要：

Various aspects of ICTVdB, a universal virus database, are discussed. ICTVdB offers precise virus identification and links an agreed taxonomy to sequence databases and turns sequences into correctly identified viruses. ICTVdB is found to serve all areas of agriculture, human and veterinary medicine and the pharamaceutical industry.
