4,4'-Dithienyl-4 ''-bromotriphenylamine or 4,4',4''-trithienyltriphenylamine was oxidized on indium-tin oxide (ITO) electrodes providing linear and starburst oligomers by thiophene coupling reactions. These oligomer layers were coated with aluminum and the resulting sandwiches were used as light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The photoemission and electroemission were near 500 nm, with a luminance of about 35 cd m(-2)at 8 V and 100 mA cm(-2). (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
