Shear orientation of viscoelastic polymer-clay solutions probed by flow birefringence and SANS

摘要
The shear-induced structural changes in complex fluids in viscoelastic polymer-clay solutions were investigated. Flow birefringence and small angle neutron scattering (SANS) techniques were used to investigate the changes. Results revealed that the recovery from the SANS anisotropy was much faster than expected from simple Brownian motion, indicating the dynamic coupling of the polymer chains of the clay.
