Collective atomic Schrodinger-cat states are superpositions of distinct atomic coherent states (or Bloch states). We show how even and odd atomic states can be generated in cavity QED by the use of a dispersive interaction between the atoms and the field along with state reduction. [S1050-2947(98)07103-0].
