Analytical treatment of diffusional growth kinetics of two intermetallic-compound layers

摘要
The diffusional growth kinetics of two intermetallic-compound layers such as ApBq and ArBs, where A and B are simple substances, was analyzed. The intermetallic-compound layers of Al 3Mg2 (ApBq) and Al 12Mg17 (ArBs) under investigation were found to grow at interface between Al and Mg. A plot of layer thickness against annealing time of Al-Mg diffusion, couples at 400°C. The average value of kA was determined to be 4.49×10-13 m 2s-1 and that of kB 9.41×10 -14 m2s-1.
