The purpose of this article is to present an overview of digital gastrointestinal imaging, to discuss its advantages and disadvantages compared with conventional gastro-intestinal imaging, and to suggest a variety of tactics that can be used to optimize the performance of barium examinations and interpretation of the studies with this technology.
