Meeting the sustainable development challenge

The United Kingdom recently issued its third annual report on its progress on sustainable development and released a sustainable energy white paper that aspires to radically cut carbon dioxide emissions over the next 50 years. Prime Minister Tony Blair introduced these two reports in a speech that called upon the United Kingdom-and the rest of the world-to strive toward a sustainable future in the face of global poverty and ongoing environmental degradation. © 2003 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
