Enumeration by Polya's theorem of the isomerism in eight-coordinate complexes in square antiprismatic, triangular dodecahedral and hendecahedral (bicapped trigonal prismatic) geometries

This paper describes the use of Polya's theorem to enumerate the possible geometrical isomers of eight-coordinate complexes with square antiprismatic, triangular D-2d dodecahedral and hendecahedral (rectangularly bicapped trigonal prismatic) geometries, with any combination of (achiral) monodentate and small bidentate ligands. The results are compared with an extensive set of solid-state structures. We finally discuss the very small set of experimental results where isomerism has been found.
