摘要:
Based on high resolution neutron powder diffraction (NPD) data, Llobet et al. [Phys. Rev. B 60, R9889 (1999)] have reported a structural transition of Pr1/2Sr1/2MnO3 from 14/mcm (a(p)root 2 x a(p) root 2 x 2a(p)) to P2(1/n) (a(p)root 2 x 2a(p),a root 2) below 135 K, associated with a ferromagnetic to A-type antiferromagnetic transition. In a previous coupled NPD-ED (electron diffraction)study, we showed that the symmetry is Fmmm (2a(p) x 2a(p) x 2a(p)) below 135 K. We compare herein the two structural types of distortion, which may be of capital importance for the understanding of the magnetotransport properties of these oxides. We draw attention to the fact that the P2(1)/n symmetry, for Pr0.5Sr0.5MnO3 is not definitely proved, in contrast to the Fmmm symmetry.
