Stochastic resonance in extended systems: Enhancement due to coupling in a reaction-diffusion model

摘要
We study the phenomenon of stochastic resonance in a spatially extended system. The system chosen, a simple version of a reaction-diffusion model, has a known form of the non-equilibrium potential which is exploited to obtain firstly the probability for the decay of the metastable extended states, and then expressions for the correlation function and for the signal-to-noise ratio. We show analytically that this ratio increases with the diffusivity that plays the role of a coupling parameter.
