LiFePO4/Carbon composite was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and subsequent annealing in N-2. From microstructure observation, fine particle size and homogeneous mixing with carbon in the composite were confirmed. A cell using the composite as cathode showed high-rate charge/discharge properties. The specific capacity of the composite at 1 A/g current density was 5 times of magnitude larger than that of mixture of LiFePO4 and carbon powders.
