摘要
The need for extensive research and development to find alternative sources to that can supply energy in quantities and at costs competitive with fossil fuels is discussed. Making these alternative sources commercially available will require developing the proper economic infrastructure. Greater global investment in R&D could hasten the pace of economic change. Hydrogen is seen as one promising alternative to fossil fuels, and bringing hydrogen and fuel cells together is a very big challenge and opportunity.
