Lattice dynamics of the (7x7) reconstructed Si(111) surface from high-resolution helium atom scattering

摘要
The low-energy part of the surface vibrational spectrum of the Si(111)(7x7) surface has been measured along both symmetry directions using high-resolution helium atom scattering. The analysis of the experimental data with a simple model enables the identification of contributions arising from the geometrical back-folding of the Rayleigh wave and from vibrations of adatoms, in excellent agreement with recent ab initio results.
