Vapour pressures, excess enthalpies, and excess volumes of (butanenitrile + methanol, + pentan-1-ol, + heptan-1-ol, + nonan-1-ol, or + decan-1-ol) were measured at a temperature T = 298.15 K. Vapour pressures of mixtures containing methanol have also been measured at T = 278.15 K, 288.15 K, 308.15 K, and 318.15 K. Reduction of the vapour pressures to obtain activity coefficients and excess molar Gibbs free energies was carried out by Barker's method. All excess molar functions increase with the chain-length of the alcohol. The apparent contribution to excess molar enthalpies H-m(E) and excess molar volumes V-m(E) due to the specific interaction between the hydroxyl hydrogen and the lone electron pair of the nitrogen atom in mixtures of (butanenitrile + hexan-1-ol, + octan-1-ol, or + decan-1-ol) is estimated.
