Drawing and poling effects on dielectric properties of an aromatic polyurethane

摘要
The dielectric properties of poly(m-xylene nonamethylene dicarbamate) (PUMX-9) were studied in melt cast (undrawn), uniaxially drawn and drawn-poled samples. This polyurethane shows the ferroelectric behavior giving a D-E hysteresis loop. The drawn samples show large dielectric relaxation above the glass transition temperature. The dielectric constant of the poled sample was significantly decreased in the measured temperature region compared with that of the unpoled sample. Corona-poled samples of drawn films were used to obtain information about the poling effects using polarized IR spectroscopy. Dichroic ratios were obtained for the poled and unpoled samples of drawn PUMX-9 films. According to the observed polarized IR spectroscopy, the urethane dipoles in both amorphous and crystal regions are aligned to the poling direction. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
