Linear and nonlinear characterization of polyDCHD-HS films

Waveguiding films of the highly soluble polycarbazolyldiacetylene polyDCHD-HS were prepared by spin coating and characterized at different wavelengths: 5 dB/cm propagation losses were observed at 1321 nm. Measurements of the third order nonlinearity at 1064 nm with the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) method gave the value chi ((3)) =4.4 x 10(-17) + i3.5 x 10(-18) m(2)/V-2.
