Superconducting borocarbides are generally obtained in the form of polycrystalline material or single crystal. In this paper, we will present a laser ablation technique to Obtain in situ deposition of the magnetic compound ErNi2B2C. X-ray measurements have been conducted to determine the film orientation, while SEM and SFM imaging has been used to study its morphology. We will also present a physical characterization of the normal and superconducting state. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
