Nitrogen oxides were treated by a positive streamer corona in both, multi-wire-to-plane and wire-to-plane discharge reactors. Tn the former reactor, the target was to establish a uniform streamer corona. It was successfully generated using a DC power supply and NO/N-2 500-ppm initial gas, when a series gap was set into the circuit, which enhanced the treatment up to 7.5 g NO/kW h. In the wire-plane discharge reactor, the effect of grounded electrode material on deNO(x) efficiency was investigated. A uniform positive streamer corona was generated regardless of the grounded electrode material even without the use of series gap because a single wire was employed for the high-voltage electrode. The treatment efficiency was enhanced when the grounded copper electrode replaced the stainless-steel electrode, and oxygen and water vapors were injected into the reactor (deNO(x) = 30% in Cu-plate reactor, deNO(x) = 16% in Sus-plate reactor).
