Design of bidirectional functionally graded plate for optimal natural frequencies

摘要
The determination of the composition profile of the bidirectional functionally graded cantilever plate with maxium first or second natural frequency is discussed. A higher-order shear and normal deformable plate theory and a meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method is used for the determination of the profiles. The composition is found to vary in the axial direction only, not in the thickness direction. The composition profile for maximizing the first frequency is different from that for maximizing the second frequency.
