Motional narrowing in a microcavity: contribution to the lower polariton linewidth

摘要
We consider the elastic scattering of polaritons due to structural disorder in a semiconductor microcavity in the strong coupling regime. For weak disorder we analytically calculate the 'motional narrowing' of the lower polariton, The obtained broadening is found to be about 10(-5) meV, in complete agreement with the existing scaling and numerical results. The anslytical consideration allows us to analyze the range of validity of this result. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
