We demonstrate a straightforward way to lithographically fabricate Mn(12)-acetate thin film patterns on Si/SiO(2) surfaces, a significant step in light of the chemical volatility of this organic complex. Atomic force micrographs show low surface roughness. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy data and magnetic measurements of the Mn(12)-acetate film indicate properties reminiscent of crystalline Mn(12)-acetate, suggesting that this approach can be used to fabricate lithographically patterned devices of Mn(12)-acetate.
