A novel cathode Li2CoMn3O8 for lithium ion batteries operating over 5 volts

摘要
The spinel phase, Li2CoMn3O8, can be used as a cathode in secondary lithium batteries, Li/LiPF6,propylene carbonate/Li2CoMn3O8 with a discharge capacity of ca. 40 mAh g(-1) at 5.0 V increasing to ca. 130 mAh g(-1) at 3.8 V. This appears to be the first single cell system to operate reversibly over 5 volts.
