MCD in 2p and 3p XAS of Mn-Zn ferrite

摘要
We observed strong magnetic circular dichroisms (MCD) in 2p and 3p XAS of Mn and Fe in a ferrimagnetic Mn-Zn ferrite (similar to Mn2/3Zn1/3Fe2O4). The overall signs of the MCD for Mn and Fe were opposite to each other, which is consistent with the ferrimagnetic structure. The multiplet structures in the MCD of the 2p XAS and the MCD in the pre-threshold region of the 3p XAS were quite different between Mn and Fe although both Mn and Fe ions are thought to be in the 3d(5) configuration. These differences were qualitatively explained by atomic calculations that take into account the tetrahedral and octahedral crystal field around Mn and Fe ions, respectively.
