Syntheses of nido-9,11-X2-7,8-C2B9H10- anions (X = Cl, Br or I) and the synthesis and structural characterization of N(C2H5)4[commo-3,3′-Co(4,7-Br2-3,1,2-CoC2B9H9)2]

摘要
Treatment of nido-7,8-C2B9H12- with N-halosuccinimide (halo = chloro, bromo or iodo) formed the corresponding nido-9,11-(halo)(2)-7,8 -C2B9H10- ion in good yield. The nido-9,11-Br-2-7,8-C2B9H10- ion was deprotonated with n-butyllithium and then reacted with cobalt(II) chloride to form the commo-3,3'-Co(4,7-Br-2-3,1,2-CoC2B9H9)(2)(-) ion. A single-crystal X-ray structure determination of this cobalt complex is reported. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
