Topochemical oxygen deintercalation in oxides using butyllithium

Topochemical oxygen deintercalation in oxides has been carried out using n-butyllithium as a mild reducing agent. Compounds such as La2CuO4+delta and Tl2Ba2CuO6+delta can be conveniently reduced to a desirable oxygen content phase. However, n-butyllithium does not remove the strongly bound lattice oxygen from the structure maintaining the integrity of the structure. The results of the various oxide phases studied are reported in this paper. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
