摘要
This paper describes a novel On-Board data compression concept for the FIRST/PACS mission of the European Space Agency (ESA). Using the lossy and lossless compression, the presented method offers a high compression rate with a minimal loss of potentially useful scientific data. It also provides higher signal to noise ratio than that for standard compression techniques. The various modules of the data compression concept are discussed in detail. Sire demonstrate the method on synthetic data.
