Standard enthalpies of formation of some alloys formed between group IV elements and group VIII elements, determined by high-temperature direct synthesis calorimetry - I. Alloys of (Ti,Zr,Hf) with (Rh,Pd,Pt)

摘要
The standard enthalpies of formation of ten alloys formed between Group TV elements (Ti, Zr, Hf) and Group VIII elements (Rh, Pd, Pt) in the periodic table have been determined or redetermined by high-temperature direct synthesis calorimetry at 1477 +/- 2 K. The following values of Delta H-f(0) (in kJ (mol atom)(-1)) are reported: RhTi, -74.4 +/- 0.8; RhZr, -79.0 +/- 1.2; PdTi, -55.3 +/- 1.8; PdZr, -66.1 +/- 1.1; PdHf, -69.5 +/- 1.7; Pd3Ti, -65.0 +/- 0.9; Pd3Zr, -84.4 +/- 1.7; Pd3Hf, -88.5 +/- 1.4, PtTi, -90.7 +/- 2.8; PtZr, -104.1 +/- 1.8. The results are compared with earlier data in the literature and with predicted values from the Miedema model. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
